Mission

The purpose of IPA is to promote and coordinate international cooperation in palaeontology, its subsidiary and related disciplines, and their practical applications.

To this end the activities of the I.P.A. shall include:

• Organization of international meetings, especially the convening of quadrennial International Palaeontological Congresses

•  Collaboration with officers responsible for the programs of international congresses to ensure that topics of palaeontological interest are included on the programs of such congresses

•. Cooperation in the publication of international journals devoted to palaeontology, especially the on-line journal Lethaia, which is formally affiliated with IPA

•  Encouragement and incorporation of International Research Groups devoted to special fields of palaeontology

•. Cooperation with other international organizations having interests allied to palaeontology;

•. Representation of the discipline of palaeontology in the  International Union of Geological Sciences (I.U.G.S) and International Union of Biological Sciences (I.U.B.S.)

•  Any activities endorsed by the Executive Committee, with advice of IPA’s Council
