The IPC is a major international meeting held once every 4 years under the auspices of the International Palaeontological Association. During this event, palaeontologists from a wide variety of sub-fields gathered together to interact and exchange ideas. 

The 6th International Palaeontological Congress (IPC6) was organized by Palaeontological Research and Education Centre of Mahasarakham University, and held in Khon Kaen, Northeast Thailand, from the 7th to the 11th, November 2022, plus pre-, mid- and post-conference excursions. The theme of the congress was ‘From Gondwana to Laurasia’, which brought together around 400 in-person participants from over 35 countries, as well as larger virtual audience from around the world. Following three plenary talks, over 320 oral and nearly 100 poster presentations of 26 technical sessions were organized, covering almost all aspects of Palaeontology as well as some related subjects like palaeoecology, palaeogeography, palaeoclimatology, sedimentology, etc.

The 5th International Palaeontological Congress (Ipc5) was held in Paris,  from 9 -13th July , 2018. 967 people have attended this conference from 60 countries. There are 43 sesseions with a total of nearly 800 presentations, representing the advances of all areas related to aspects of paleontology. 

The 4th International Palaeontological Congress held in Mendoza, at the foothills of the Andes, from September 28th to October 3rd, 2014, constituted the first time this important event took place in America. It was hosted by the Centro Científico Tecnológico CONICET Mendoza and organized by top specialists, both local and international, in leading fields of paleontological research. Its venue, strategically located in downtown Mendoza City, was the Sheraton Mendoza Hotel while several academic and social events were simultaneously being held in the nearby Huentala Boutique Hotel.   

The 2014 IPC involved 858 scientific participants, of whom a staggering 260 were students, coming from 46 countries, fact which rendered the conference truly international. A total amount of 894 abstracts, were presented during the congress. Such presentations, both oral and poster, were orchestrated in a varied array of meeting styles including plenary lectures (5), symposia on leading issues (22), interactive workshops (4) and technical sessions (24). This meeting provided participants with the unique opportunity to discuss experiences, explore new research directions and debate topics with specialists from across the globe. Furthermore, attendees could embark on several field trips, pre-, post- and intra-congress, covering not only some of the most relevant palaeontological sites in the country but also including visits to the main tourist attractions all over Argentina. Certainly, participating scientists and students, enjoyed Mendoza, the sun and wine Argentine province, and made the 4th IPC an unforgettable event.  

The 3rd International Paleontological Congress, hosted in London, from June 28 to July 3 by the Palaeontological Association and its partners, the Natural History Museum, the Palaeontographical Society, the Micropalaeontological Society and the International Palaeontological Association.  The event, attended by over 800 scientists, included a rich variety of excellent symposia, technical sessions, workshops and field trips.
